Safadi receives Jordanian engineers attacked in Kazakhstan

Ammon News - AMMONNEWS - Deputizing for HRH Crown Prince Al Hussein bin Abdullah II, the Regent, Minister of Foreign and Expatriates Affairs, Ayman Safadi, at dawn on Tuesday received a number of Jordanian engineers and workers, who were attacked at a company in Kazakhstan and wanted to spend their vacation between relatives.

Safadi conveyed greetings of His Highness, Crown Prince Al Hussein, who was closely following developments of the issue and made every effort to provide all protection and care for the Jordanian workers .

"Under the directives of His Majesty King Abdullah II, our main priority at the ministry is to serve Jordanians abroad and provide them with all support they need ," Safadi said.

FM expressed Jordan’s pride of its expatriates, who are respected wherever they go and always been examples of dedication in their work and outstanding social behavior around the world.

"Over the past three days, the ministry has been following up on developments of the attack on Jordanians working in Kazakhstan. All diplomatic channels between the two countries were used to follow up on this incident in order to ensure the safety of our citizens in Kazakhstan, " Safadi said.

The Jordanian Ambassador in Kazakhstan was tasked to go to the scene and communicate Kazakh competent authorities to take all security measures to ensure the safety of Jordanian employees.

Channels of communication were also opened with the Kazakh company, in which Jordanian engineers work, in order to ensure and maintain all their labor rights.

The company has agreed to give Jordanian engineers and workers open leave and secure a private plane to carry them back home to spend their vacation until their return to their workplace, the minister said.

Safadi thanked the Government of Kazakhstan and its security agencies for their quick response to the demands of the ministry to ensure the Jordanian engineers’ security and safety, which contributed not to further make matters worsen.

He also thanked the company for its cooperation and understanding of the workers' circumstances, which had the greatest impact in preserving their rights and securing their safe return to their homeland .

At Queen Alia Airport, Safadi met with the families of the engineers and conveyed greetings of HRH, king’s deputy Crown Prince Hussein, of their sons safe return to Jordan.

Some 40 Jordanians out of 107 working in Kazakhstan expressed wish to spend their vacation in the Kingdom without affecting their jobs. A total of 56 workers of Arab nationals were also transferred on the same plane to Beirut airport.
