Ammon News - AMMONNEWS - The Ministry of Industry, Trade and Supply said that the Kingdom is keen on developing Jordanian-Iraqi economic cooperation to serve the two countries and benefit from available opportunities.
The two sides worked on implementing previous understandings aimed at bolstering the bilateral relations that came as part of the vision of the two countries' leaderships to achieve integration in several sectors in light of available capabilities, the ministry said in a statement issued on Tuesday.
Jordan seeks full employment of these understandings in joint economic interests; and that all understandings and protocols benefit both sides and provide reciprocal advantages to their economies, it added.
The Jordanian government has taken many measures with regard to the Jordan-origin goods exported to the Iraqi market, which hadn't exceeded 1.6 percent in 2017 of the overall Iraqi imports. The measures aim at familiarizing the Iraqi technical delegations during their visits to the Kingdom on the steps taken to issue the Jordanian certificate of origin.
A circular had also been issued to the Jordan Customs urging its personnel to check the origin of goods exported to the Iraqi market, be it Jordanian or transit, and inform the Minister of Industry, Trade and Supply about any violations in this regard. Also, the Jordanian industry chambers had been instructed not to approve any certificate of origin before thoroughly making sure it meets the stipulated criteria.
