Ammon News - AMMONNEWS - Minister of Interior, Salama Hammad, pledged providing adequate protection to health personnel in government hospitals and vowed to ensure the necessary budgetary allocations for this purpose.
The minister's remarks came during his visit, alongside Acting Minister of Health, Waleed Maani on Sunday to Prince Hamzah Hospital, in conjunction with a sit-in carried out by the Jordan Medical Association (JMA) to protest the repeated attacks on its employees.
During the visit, the two ministers were assured on the health of a doctor, who was recently attacked and admitted to hospital for treatment.
The security forces arrested the attackers, in preparation to take legal action against them.
JMA Chairman, Ali Abous, who accompanied the ministers, said the association had submitted many proposals to put an end to the phenomenon of attacks on medical personnel, which needs to be adopted and implemented, expressing its resolve to address this issue by all possible legal and unionist means.
The sit-in participants held banners calling for an end to the attacks on doctors and health workers and imposing tough penalties on attackers.
