PM meets key figures, residents of Al Mahatta refugee camp

Ammon News - AMMONNEWS - Prime Minister Omar Razzaz on Wednesday met with a delegation of key figures and residents of the Al Mahatta refugee camp in Amman who lauded the government's recent decision to solve the camp lands' issue, through granting them to its residents and terminate legal cases filled against them by land owners.

The camp's figures and residents expressed their appreciation for the current government's response to ending their suffering, which lasted for decades, and worsened since 2016 after owners of land filed lawsuits against the residents and threatened to evacuate them.

The said the government's decision, taken two weeks ago to allocate land to the residents in return for allowances contributed to end their suffering and put an end to the fear that was threatening the future of their children.

They expressed hope that the decision will contribute to improving the quality of services that are still below the level of ambition.

They also expressed their pride in the leadership of His Majesty the King, and his role in defending the Palestinian cause and the Islamic and Christian holy sites in Jerusalem.

The prime minister said the government has committed itself to dealing with violations against the state land and land belonging to citizens, on which residential areas were established.

He added that the government's duty is to achieve the aspiration of residents of these areas to settle in their legally registered homes and provide them with all services.

On the Palestinian issue and Jerusalem, the premier affirmed that the position of King Abdullah, the Jordanian government and people is clear and firm which supports the establishment of an independent Palestinian state with Jerusalem as its capital in addition to the Hashemite custodianship over Islamic and Christian holy sites in Jerusalem.
