Razzaz : Government, IACC have joint task to carry out royal directives to fight corruption

Ammon News - AMMONNEWS - Prime Minister, Omar Razzaz, said the government has worked with all seriousness and commitment to fight all forms of financial and administrative corruption and to provide support to the oversight bodies concerned with preserving public money.

Razzaz, during his visit to the Integrity and Anti-Corruption Commission (IACC) on Sunday, met with its Chairman, Muhannad Hijazi, in the presence of Justice Minister Bassam Talhouni, Minister of State for Legal Affairs, Mubarak Abu Yamin, and the State for Media Affairs, Jumana Ghneimat, noted: "His Majesty King Abdullah II has repeatedly instructed the government that nobody is immune in the fight against corruption".

"This is a joint task for the government and the IACC to work to enforce the royal directives in this area and without any leniency," the premier pointed out.

Razzaz said indicators of the anti-corruption network are moving in the right direction, adding the number of cases transferred by the IACC to the judiciary since the beginning of this year until 20 March 2019 reached 81 cases.

The premier referred to the measures the government has taken to strengthen the anti-corruption network.

At the legislative level, he cited three bills endorsed by Parliament, the first is the Illicit Gain Law, which expands categories subject to its umbrella, the second is the Integrity and Anti-Corruption Law eyeing to enhance the independence of the chairman and members of the IACC, and finally the Audit Bureau Law strengthened its oversight role.
