Ammon News - AMMONNEWS - Senate President Faisal Fayez said on Saturday that learning for creative and productive work has become an urgency to build the country and enable human resources to pursue distinction in all fields of knowledge and science.
"The universities' aim has never been to add new numbers to unemployment figures, and that education for education's sake no longer suites us," he said in remarks at the Fourth International Scientific Conference at the Amman Arab University Faculty of Business Administration.
He told the conference, titled 'Human Capital in the knowledge Age', that human resources development is the real asset of any country, adding that the more capable the state is of safeguarding these resources and developing its capacity to keep pace with advancement of the age, the more advanced and powerful it will grow in the various fields.
Jordan had for long believed that a human with knowledge is the engine for development, he said, adding that "in the information and technology revolution, industrial and digital intelligence and the age of the robot, we must realize that the rules had changed and imposed new challenges that we should face through rehabilitation of our human resources and achieving sustainable development and growth as a collective responsibility."
Fayez stressed the role of universities in rehabilitating the youth to meet the country's future needs and the requirements of comprehensive development.
Twelve Arab countries and Malaysia are taking part in the two-day conference.
