King meets with leaders at Arab Summit

Ammon News - AMMONNEWS - His Majesty King Abdullah on Sunday met with Speaker of the Council of the Nation of Algeria Abdelkader Bensaleh, who is heading Algeria’s delegation at the 30th Arab Summit in Tunis.

Discussions covered bilateral ties, with King Abdullah stressing keenness to expand cooperation.

His Majesty said uniting Arab ranks and institutionalizing joint Arab action are key to overcoming challenges facing the Arab world.

His Majesty King Abdullah’s meeting with Lebanese President Michel Aoun in Tunis on Sunday focused on bilateral ties and the latest regional developments.

During the meeting, held on the sidelines of the 30th Arab Summit, King Abdullah and President Aoun affirmed the strong ties between the two countries and the importance of expanding cooperation, especially in economy and trade.

The Palestinian cause and the need to unite Arab efforts and positions in response to regional challenges were also discussed.

In addition, the meeting covered the Syrian crisis and means to reach a political solution that preserves the territorial integrity of Syria and the unity of its people, while ensuring the safe return of refugees and international support for host countries.

The importance of regional and international efforts to counter terrorism within a holistic approach was also stressed.

His Majesty King Abdullah on Sunday met with Sayyid Asa'ad bin Tariq Al Said, deputy prime minister for international relations and cooperation affairs and personal representative of the sultan of Oman, who is heading Oman’s delegation at the 30th Arab Summit in Tunis.

Discussions covered bilateral ties and means to enhance cooperation in service of joint and Arab interests.

King Abdullah asked Sayyid Asa'ad bin Tariq Al Said to convey his greetings to Sultan Qaboos bin Said of Oman and his wishes of prosperity and progress for the people of Oman.

The importance of activating joint Arab action to overcome shared challenges was also stressed during the meeting, attended by senior officials on both sides.

His Majesty King Abdullah met with Kuwait Emir Sheikh Sabah Al Ahmad Al Jaber Al Sabah on the sidelines of the 30th Arab Summit in Tunis on Sunday and discussed bilateral ties and regional developments, especially the Palestinian cause.

King Abdullah and Sheikh Sabah affirmed the deep ties between Jordan and Kuwait, and commitment to expand cooperation.

At the meeting, attended by senior officials on both sides, Jordan and Kuwait stressed the importance of maintaining coordination over issues of mutual concern in service of Arab causes.

His Majesty thanked Kuwait for its positions in support of Jordan, noting the importance of Sheikh Sabah’s efforts in serving Arab causes.

The importance of ending the Palestinian-Israeli conflict on the basis of the two-state solution and the Arab Peace Initiative was also stressed, leading to establishing a Palestinian state with East Jerusalem as its capital.

His Majesty King Abdullah met with the High Representative of the EU for Foreign Affairs and Security Policy Federica Mogherini on the sidelines of the 30th Arab Summit in Tunis on Sunday.

The meeting covered the partnership between Jordan and the European Union, and recent regional developments.

Discussions covered the importance of strengthening coordination and consultation between Jordan and the EU on various issues of mutual concern.

King Abdullah stressed the need to step up international efforts to re-launch Palestinian-Israeli negotiations, based on the two-state solution, leading to the establishment of an independent Palestinian state with East Jerusalem as its capital, pointing out the importance of the European role in this regard.

His Majesty also highlighted the need to reach political solutions to regional crisis.

The status of the Golan Heights as occupied Syrian territory, according to international law and UN resolutions, was also emphasised during the meeting.

Foreign Minister Ayman Safadi, Adviser to His Majesty and Director of the Office of His Majesty Manar Dabbas, and Jordan’s Ambassador in Tunis Awwad Sarhan attended the meeting.

Discussions covered the strong ties between Jordan and Bahrain, and the importance of maintaining coordination.

King Abdullah asked Sheikh Mohammed to convey his greetings to King Hamad bin Isa Al Khalifa of Bahrain, and his wishes of prosperity and progress for the people of Bahrain.

His Majesty stressed the need to bolster joint Arab action and unify positions on challenges facing the Arab world.

The meeting, attended by senior officials on both sides, also covered the importance of reaching political solutions to regional crises.
