PM meets with EU ambassadors, heads of missions

Ammon News - AMMONNEWS - Prime Minister Omar Razzaz on Sunday met with the European Union (EU) ambassadors and heads of missions to Jordan for a discussion on the bloc's support for the Kingdom's reform drive and ways to build on the London conference to support the Jordanian economy.

The meeting also tackled the outcome of a recent Brussels conference dedicated to supporting countries hosting Syrian refugees. In this context, the prime minister said the international community's support of Jordan's Syrian refugee crisis response plan is a recognition of the magnitude of the burden placed on Jordan.

With the help of true partners such as the EU, Jordan can surmount economic challenges and financial hardships, the prime minister said, noting that key economic indicators, including exports, started to improve.

Razzaz stressed that the government is in the process of launching dialogues on political reform, employment and the poverty agenda.

Minister of Planning and International Cooperation Mary Kawar pointed out that the government is now focusing on stimulating economic growth and implementing a matrix of reforms over the next five years. She also stressed that the priority for now and in the next phase will be the economy while at the same time focusing on human development.

A number of EU ambassadors and heads of missions emphasized their countries' and the EU's support for Jordan to overcome the challenges it faces and push forward reforms in all fields, stressing the importance of following up the implementation of the outcomes of the London conference.
