Ammon News - AMMONNEWS - "We need awareness and vigilance to overcome the challenges of the next phase that the Kingdom is going through," Minister of State for Media Affairs and the government spokesperson, Jumana Ghunaimat, Wednesday said.
During a meeting she held with military veterans at the Prime Ministry premises, she said: "Some try to question Jordan's positions in an attempt to destabilize the country," emphasizing that the Kingdom is known for its invariable positions and transparency on many issues, foremost of which is the Palestinian cause and the issue of Jerusalem.
Under the leadership of His Majesty King Abdullah, Jordan's position on the Palestinian cause and Jerusalem is unwavering, which calls to establish a sovereign Palestinian state on the borders of 4/6/1967 with East Jerusalem as its capital, she added.
She said it is "very clear" that the people of Jordan stand in support for His Majesty on the Palestinian issue and the safeguarding of the Islamic and Christian holy sites in the Jerusalem under the Hashemite custodianship, warning that "skeptic and discordant voices don't serve Jordan, but the occupier."
Ghunaimat discussed the challenges coming from across the borders that impacted Jordan starting with the global financial crisis 2007-2008, the disruption of gas supplied from Egypt in 2011 and the upheavals that swept through the region in the last few years.
She said that economic hardships, primarily unemployment and poverty are on the top of the list in the Kingdom, in addition the huge burdens that Jordan has been grappling with as a result of hosting 1.3 million Syrian refugees.
The government is exerting "serious" effort through its priorities for the years 2019 and 2020 that focus on three pillars: the state of law, the state of production and the state of solidarity to overcome the current challenges, she explained.
