Cold snap forecast to continue until Friday

Ammon News - AMMONNEWS - Another wet and cold air mass accompanied by a shallow depression centered over Turkey will affect the country on Wednesday, bringing cold and partly cloudy weather with scattered showers in the northern and central regions, the Jordan Meteorological Department (JMD) daily brief said.
Showers may extend to the southern and eastern parts of the country, with westerly moderate winds, picking up at times and stirring dust in the desert region, the JMD added.
Daytime temperatures expected for today in Amman and the southern cities will reach 12 degrees Celsius , and 14 degrees in the northern cities, dropping down to 7, 4 and 8 respectively. The weather will be warmer in the port city of Aqaba with highs reaching 24 degrees Celsius and lows sliding to 14 degrees at night.
A slight rise in mercury levels is expected Thursday, but the weather will stay cold in most regions and pleasant in the Jordan Valley, Dead Sea and Aqaba. An abundance of medium and high altitudes clouds will gradually increase at night, bringing cloudy skies and a bigger chance for rain in the northern and central parts, the JMD said.
Cold weather will continue on Friday, with clouds at different altitudes and scattered showers, while winds will be southwesterly moderate, picking up at times and stirring dust in the desert.
