Ammon News - AMMONNEWS - Environment and Regional Affairs Commissioner at the Aqaba Special Economic Zone Authority (ASEZA) Sulaiman Najadat discussed with a German delegation Tuesday prospects to forge closer cooperation in the field of renewable energy and water to serve local communities.
"The delegation took a first-hand look at the key environment projects in Aqaba", a statement released by Najadat said, noting that ASEZA had carried out environmental impact studies and sought to magnify investment in the sector.
The commissioner was referring to the Kingdom’s first water desalination plant in the southern port city of Aqaba, which, he said, was a role model in terms of its sophisticated technology levels.
Moreover, the ASEZA chief said the authority is keenly interested in investment in renewable energy, pointing to the Aqaba power plant that generates 20 per cent of Jordan's total renewable energy production.
The delegation said that Germany seeks to advance relations with Arab countries, and stressed the deep-rooted Jordanian-German ties in various spheres.
