Ammon News - AMMONNEWS - Acting Speaker of the Lower House of Parliament, Nassar Al-Qaisi, stressed the depth of the historic brotherly relations between Jordan and Syria during a meeting on Thursday with Syrian Charge D'Affaires in Jordan, Ayman Aloush.
During the meeting, Al-Qaisi said the two countries have common aspirations that require further coordination and cooperation in a way that best serves their interests.
Aloush delivered a message from the Syrian People's Assembly Speaker Hammoudeh Sabbagh to Al-Qaisi, confirming the Syrian parliament's participation in the 29th meeting of the Arab Inter-Parliamentary Union in Amman next month.
Discussing the parliamentary diplomacy, Al-Qaisi stressed the need to enhance the joint Arab parliamentary efforts to the "appropriate" solutions to several pending issues, which will achieve the two countries' interests.
On the Syria crisis, Al-Qaisi said: "Jordan has had a firm position since the beginning of the Syrian crisis," noting "His Majesty King Abdullah II made it clear by rejecting a military solution, and pushing forward a political solution that maintains the unity of Syria and its people."
For his part, Aloush expressed the Syrian People's Assembly's gratitude to the Kingdom for inviting Syria to attend the parliamentary meeting, adding the invitation highlighted the Kingdom's desire to boost bilateral ties.
