Ammon News - AMMONNEWS - Minister of Industry, Trade and Supply, Tariq Hammouri, and Spanish Minister of State for Trade and Industry, Xiana Mendez, signed on Thursday the minutes of the Jordanian-Spanish Joint Committee meetings at its first session held in Amman.
During the signing ceremony, the two sides stressed the two countries' "strategic" relations and the importance of holding the joint committee meeting as an appropriate opportunity to promote dialogue and exchange of views to develop bilateral cooperation.
They also stressed the necessity of working to increase the level of economic cooperation between the two countries in various fields, especially in the trade and investment areas, by taking advantage of the available opportunities.
Hammouri thanked Spain for its support to Jordan's request to relax the rules of origin governing exports to the European Union (EU), which stimulates the Kingdom's industrial exports to the EU market.
Relaxation of rules of origin (RoO) ensures a wider access and diversification of Jordanian exports to the European market.
The two sides agreed on the importance of working to spur the private sector in both countries to build "effective" economic partnerships that serve the common interests.
To push the RoO's relaxation ahead, the two sides discussed the possibility of providing technical assistance to Jordanian companies to promote their exports to Europe and benefit from the decision to simplify the rules of origin to the EU market.
