Ammon News - AMMONNEWS - Ministry of Foreign and Expatriate Affairs Spokesperson, Ambassador Sufian Al-Qudah said that the Ministry and the Jordanian Embassy in Tehran are daily following up on the situation of three Jordanian detainees in Iran who had accidentally entered Iranian territorial sea while on a fishing trip with their Arab friends.
Al-Qudah noted that the Jordanian Embassy in Tehran is communicating with the detainees on a daily basis. The acting ambassador met with them, and confirmed that they are in good health and being treated well by Iranian authorities.
The acting ambassador in Tehran also called on the Iranian authorities to officially and immediately release the Jordanian citizens as they were guests on a boat that entered the Iranian sea, the spokesperson added.
Foreign Ministry's Secretary General, Ambassador Zaid Al-Louzi, had previously met with the Iranian Ambassador to Jordan, stressing the need to release the Jordanian detainees immediately, and this meeting was followed by repeated contacts with the Iranian Ambassador to follow up the matter, Al-Qudah noted.
The Foreign Ministry is in constant contact with the detainees' families and is working to end their detention as soon as possible, the spokesperson concluded.
