PM meets heads of state, businessmen at WEF

Ammon News - AMMONNEWS - Prime Minister Omar Razzaz Thursday held a series of meetings, on the sidelines of the World Economic Forum (WEF), in the Swiss city of Davos and met with world leaders, heads of delegations, ministers and businessmen participating in the forum.

Officials at the WEF lauded His Majesty King Abdullah's efforts exerted in the region at all levels.

The Premier discussed with Queen Maxima of the Netherlands, who is the UN Secretary General's Special Advocate for Inclusive Finance for Development, financial inclusion, which Jordan implements, that seeks to enable the citizens to easily access financial services and fairly provide financial services.

Queen Maxima emphasized that the UN is supporting and encouraging the policies of financial inclusion due to its importance, stressing that Jordan is considered a promising success story.

Razzaz also met with Secretary of State for International Development of the United Kingdom, Penny Mordaunt, where they discussed the ongoing preparations to hold the London conference to support the economy and investment in Jordan which is planned to convene in February.

The Premier said that Jordan has achieved many stages in financial reform and it is focusing on the matrix of economic policies that attracts investments and improve the work environment.

He also met with the president of the WEF, Borge Brende, and discussed the preparations for Jordan to host the WEF on the Middle East and North Africa in April at the Dead Sea.

Razzaz stressed that the Jordanian participation in WEF aims at promoting the opportunities of investment in the country; and the procedures taken by the government to improve the work environment.

The Premier and the EU Commissioner for Neighborhood Policy and Enlargement Negotiations, Johannes Hahn, discussed developmental relations and the EU's aid to the refugees in Jordan.

Jordanian-EU bilateral agreements and means to reach new ones were also discussed.

They also discussed the EUs mechanisms of support to the upcoming London conference and the preparations for holding the Brussels Conference on Supporting the Future of Syria and the Region in March.
