Ammon News - AMMONNEWS - The government fuel pricing committee on Monday announced the reduction of oil derivatives by about 8%, including unleaded 90-octane gasoline, which fell to JD0.695 per litre from the December price of JD0.750.
The price of unleaded octane-95 gas was also fixed at JD0.905 per litre, down from the previous month's price of JD0.965, while kerosene and diesel prices were cut to JD0.560 per litre, instead of last month's rate of JD0.605, according to the committee.
Regarding kerosene, which is commonly used for heating in winter, it said the January price will also be valid for the first four months of 2019, but it will be reduced further if global oil prices continue to plunge.
The panel, which determine prices on monthly basis according to fluctuations in the global oil market, also decided to fix the price of a cooking gas cylinder (12.15 kg) at JD7, noting that its actual world price is about JD7.74.
It also announced reductions on other fuels, including natural gas for industries.
The measure is intended to ease the burden on low-income segments in view of the domestic economic situation, it pointed out.
Oil prices in the global market took a tumble in December, with Brent prices falling to $57.39 per barrel, down from $65.4 per barrel in November.
