Ammon News - AMMONNEWS - Almost 25 professionals of the Technical and Vocational Education Training (TVET) sector, took part in the “Training Needs Assessment schemes” workshop, organised within the framework of the EU-funded “Skills for Employment and Social Inclusion Programme” SESIP, implemented by Deutsche Gesellschaft für Internationale Zusammenarbeit (GIZ), on Tuesday, November 6 2018, at Ayass hotel in Amman.
The workshop aims at equipping the TVET specialists with methods and techniques that would enable them to develop “Training Needs Assessment schemes” for TVET teachers, trainers, and supervisors, etc. while considering the Jordanian Standard Classification of Education- JSCED, and the National Qualification Framework, among other. This involves, conducting analysis of training policies, occupational and job analysis, developing curricula, organising resources, implementation, evaluation and validation of training programmes, etc.
The diversity of participants’ profiles, reflects the cross-cutting nature of the sector and the importance of strengthening such collaborative practices that are shaping the future of the TVET in the country.
“On the short term our aim is to enhance the competences of the TVET professionals based on the identification of their needs and relevant training schemes, on the long term it is about developing their career paths”, said Eng. Abdelbasit Saleh, SESIP Key Expert, Responsible for the Curricula Development and Training of Trainers (ToT) programme, and Workshop Manager. He added “A TVET training system that delivers high quality education and training will produce graduates who are well-prepared for the job market and are valued by their employers, which will enable the system to attract more students based on improved career prospects.”
The “Skills for Employment and Social Inclusion Programme” SESIP, is an EU-funded project that provides technical assistance and capacity development to the Employment, Technical and Vocational Education Training (ETVET) Sector, for the implementation of the ETVET Strategy 2014-2020, National Employment Strategy 2011-2020 and Human Resources Development strategy 2016-2025, in partnership with the ministries of: Education, Higher Education & Scientific Research, Social Development and Labour as well as their related institutions and Civil Society Organisations. SESIP focuses on 6 thematic areas: 1) Governance, 2) Curricula Development and Training of Trainers (ToT), Quality Assurance and Accreditation, 4) Social Inclusion for disadvantaged groups in E-TVET services and Labour Market Information Systems, 5) Involvement of Business Associations and Civil Society in the ETVET reform, 6) Communication and Visibility. Approach: SESIP adopts a participative and consultative approach, implementing all project’s activities in collaboration with 4 Inter-ministerial Groups including representatives of all the above-mentioned partners. SESIP is part of a €52 million European Union budget support programme to Jordan.
