Ammon News - AMMONNEWS - Prime Minister Omar Razzaz said that the government shoulders the practical, administrative and moral responsibility for what had happened at the Dead Sea last Thursday.
During a Lower House of Parliament session on Tuesday, Razzaz expressed deep sorrow and heartfelt condolences to all Jordanians, particularly the families of the victims of the Dead Sea tragedy.
He said the duty of the government in these circumstances, and at this difficult moment, is not to search for a scapegoat, but rather accurately investigate the circumstances that led to this tragedy, define those responsible for the incident and reveal negligence and institutional dysfunction, to prevent future recurrence of such a tragedy.
"Successful countries are not those which do not make mistakes, but are those that do not repeat these mistakes, draw lessons from them, determine responsibilities accurately, and hold those who are negligent accountable without hesitation," the prime minister added.
"There are two types of negligent people; those who violate laws and regulations who should be referred to justice, and those who do not violate legislations and measures clearly and fail to shoulder their responsibility and therefore, must step down.
Razzaz also thanked all who responded to the crisis with an efficient manner, and did everything in their power, but could not change the outcome; because the response to such a crisis requires various efforts, which are shared by several parties.
