King chairs meeting to follow up on progress in human resources strategy

Ammon News - AMMONNEWS - His Majesty King Abdullah II on Sunday chaired a meeting, attended by Her Majesty Queen Rania Al Abdullah, at Al Husseiniya Palace to follow up on the implementation of the National Strategy for Human Resources Development 2016-2025 and achievement of its goals two years after its launch.

During the meeting, which was attended by Prime Minister, Omar Razzaz, the King stressed the importance of reviewing the achievements of the strategy on the ground and the need to accelerate achievement of the remaining goals without delay.

The King said the development of human resources is a strategic choice and priority for Jordan, whose human resources have always been a source of pride for the nation.

His Majesty also stressed the importance the citizen feels improvement in the educational services, which contributes to alleviate economic burdens.

In this context, the King stressed the importance to accelerate reforming the educational and technical training sector to provide the youth with skills that meet the needs of the economic and service sectors in the labor markets, and to speed up utilizing IT in the various educational programs.

During the meeting, Razzaz reviewed the most important achievements in the implementation of the strategy, pointing out that 35% of the recommendations and projects of the strategy are being carried out and work is underway to implement them as planned.

The premier said the National Center for Curriculum Development is working at full capacity and is currently developing new curricula in the fields of science and mathematics in partnership with Jordanian experts in accordance with the best international standards in this field, adding new schools have been built to accommodate the increasing numbers of students accompanied with a model expansion in teacher training and development.

The Prime Minister said efforts to expand kindergartens are in line with the recommendations of the strategy so that the rate of children enrolled in this stage will hit 100 percent in 2025.

Razzaz highlighted plans to develop the higher education sector, as well as what has already been achieved in the legislative and institutional domains.

Razzaz underlined the universities' governance-boosting measures, as well as programs targeting education leaders and cadres in higher education institutions.

For his part, Minister of Labor, Samir Murad, reviewed the main objectives that are being implemented in the framework of the recommendations of the strategy related to the technical and educational training sector, which focuses mainly on enhancing role of the private sector in developing training programs that meet needs of the labor market.

The minister referred to the launch of a comprehensive restructuring plan to reform the technical and educational training sector to empower young people and expand their participation in the national economy through the development of modern legislation that support the sector in accordance with the best international practices.

On the restructuring goals, the minister said the project aims to increase the partnership between the public and private sectors and establish an integrated reference framework for the institutional, technical and financial supervision required to improve quality of training services and develop the professional and technical skills of the youth.

Chief of the Royal Court, Advisor to the King, Director of His Majesty's Office, the King's Advisor for Economic Affairs, the Ministers of Higher Education and Scientific Research, and Education, attended the meeting.
