Ammon News - AMMONNEWS - Royal Jordanian is providing temporary employment opportunities to 74 students from public and private universities during the summer period, a move that will hopefully give them some insight in the kind of work performed by RJ employees and attract those interested to work for RJ now and in the future.
The selected students major in different academic subjects that match RJ’s manpower needs. They will be paid reasonable salaries in the peak period, during which the company needs more staff to help facilitate the movement of an increased number of passengers.
The initiative is in line with RJ’s social responsibility and its national role toward the local community, which includes offering employment opportunities to the Jordanian youth and enabling them to build and enhance their skills according to the market needs, while also pushing them to achieve their ambitions and expand their knowledge and experience, which reflects positively on the community. RJ will continue to employ these students until they graduate, and will try to provide permanent employment opportunities for graduates, as fits its needs.
Royal Jordanian offered the students a full training program that included specialized courses in corporate safety, security, handling of dangerous goods, safety management system and the departure control system, in addition to those training them on customer and baggage services. The students will be employed in different sections of RJ’s Airport Services Department, including departures, boarding gates, baggage services, Crown lounge, and transit, between June 1 and September 30, 2018.
RJ President/CEO Stefan Pichler expressed satisfaction with the company’s move to employ these students during the current summer season, saying: "The students a lot of determination and ambition, they are self-dependent and keen on helping their families. Being part of RJ will enrich RJ’s manpower and help the airline offer exclusive services and a seamless travel experience to the passengers at all stages of their travel, and will also save RJ some of the permanent employment expenses. "Our program aims at encouraging the Jordanian youth to work part-time jobs during their spare time to benefit themselves and the society. RJ will develop this program in the coming years and make use of the competencies of Jordanian university students who are determined to improve their skills and experience." The students, in turn, expressed their pleasure for this job opportunity at Royal Jordanian while they are still in their freshman’s year. They said that they are so excited to cooperate with RJ employees to offer services to the passengers with warm welcoming and hospitality that RJ is known for.
They mentioned that this experience will play a key role in their future career paths; through their work at the airport, they will acquire various skills and know how that will enable them to deal with travelers from various countries and cultures.
