Senate president discusses Income Tax Law with PM

Ammon News - AMMONNEWS - Senate President Faisal Al Fayez on Wednesday, discussed with Prime Minister Hani Al Mulki the amended draft law on the income tax which was referred by the government to the Lower House of Parliament last week.

Fayez said that the meeting comes within the continued consultation between the Senate and the government to get acquainted with the government's measures to address economic challenges. "The conditions we are going through require united efforts in order to deal with the challenges based on national responsibility," he said.

Fayez that the Senate will continue shouldering its national responsibilities to address economic challenges to serve the interests of the homeland, preserve economic and social stability in the Kingdom, and translate directives of His Majesty King Abdullah II to improve citizen's living conditions.

"The chamber, through its specialized committees, will conduct dialogues on the tax law with various commercial and industrial sectors, civil society institutions, experts and specialists, with the aim of reaching understandings on the law based on its monitoring and legislative constitutional duty," he added.

The prime minister for his part said the government was serious in dealing with various economic challenges to reach a stage of self-reliance and overcome the difficult economic conditions.

He pointed out that the government is continuing dialogue on the draft law with the Senate and Lower House, various civil society institutions and other concerned bodies.
