Fakhoury briefs Dutch delegation about economic challenges facing Jordan

Ammon News - AMMONNEWS - Minister of Planning and International Cooperation Imad Fakhoury on Monday, briefed a Dutch parliamentary delegation about economic challenges facing Jordan due to instability in the region and the burden resulting from the Syrian refugee crisis.

During the meeting with the delegation that included representatives of the Dutch House of Representatives and Senate, Fakhoury also spoke about the economic situation in the Kingdom, and efforts to increase growth rate and employment of Jordanians, noting that Jordan maintained its resilience despite the difficult and unprecedented conditions in the region.

He said that these conditions affected Jordan and prompted it implement a financial and economic reform program to maintain financial and monetary stability and macro economy.

The minister also pointed to the launch of the economic and social road map represented in Jordan's 2025 document and successive development programs to achieve the objectives of ‘Jordan 2025’ development blueprint.

He pointed out the importance of cooperation with the Netherlands in order to review the decision on the rules of origin, in order to maximize their benefits for Jordanian industrialists, attract investments and job opportunities.

The Minister thanked the Dutch government for its continued support as a strategic partner of Jordan in its development efforts and for supporting the Kingdom to address challenges resulting from the Syrian crisis.

He praised the Netherlands' understanding of the heavy burden placed on Jordan for hosting the refugees.

The Dutch delegation praised Jordan pivotal role and the comprehensive reform process led by His Majesty the King, and said the Netherlands will continue its support to Jordan to deal with strategic challenges.
