King attends King Abdullah II Prize for World Interfaith Harmony Week award ceremony

Ammon News - AMMONNEWS - His Majesty King Abdullah II, on Tuesday, attended the 2018 King Abdullah II Prize for the World Interfaith Harmony Week award ceremony.

The prize comes in recognition of efforts exerted by the first three best events or texts that promote the objectives of the World Interfaith Harmony Week between religions.

His Majesty presented certificates and medals to the winners of the World Interfaith Harmony Week, which was presented by the King to the 65th session of the United Nations General Assembly in September 2010, and unanimously adopted after less than a month in the same year by the United Nations, and thus, the first week of February of each year became the World Interfaith Harmony Week.

The prize, founded by the Royal Aal al-Bayt Institute for Islamic Thought in Jordan in 2013, recognizes efforts being made to promote harmony among followers of different faiths.

At the ceremony, HRH Prince Ghazi bin Mohammad, the King's Chief Adviser for Religious and Cultural Affairs and Personal Envoy, delivered a speech in which he said the prize is in a constant growth, commending King Abdullah's efforts to promote peace and harmony between people.

The first prize was awarded to the Interfaith Centre of Melbourne from Australia, while the second prize was awarded to an Indonesian event on celebrating the World Interfaith Harmony Week. The third prize was granted to the Interfaith Dialogue in Glasgow, Scotland after holding an event on friendship, dialogue and cooperation between religions.
