Erekat calls for severing ties with countries that relocate their embassies to Jerusalem

12-04-2018 07:06 AM

Ammon News - AMMONNEWS - Secretary-General of the Executive Committee of the Palestine Liberation Organization(PLO) Saeb Erekat, urged the Arab Summit in Saudi Arabia to activate an article that calls for severing ties with any country that relocates its embassy to occupied Jerusalem.

In a statement on Thursday, the Palestinian top negotiator said that the U.S recognition of Jerusalem as the capital of Israel, the closure of the PLO office in Washington as well as reducing financial aid to the UNRWA and the Palestinian National Authority, are the beginning of the implementation of the "Deal of the Century".

The Arab Summit, which will be held next Sunday in the Saudi city of Dammam, will voice rejection of US President Donald Trump's decision on Jerusalem and will consider it null and void, and against international law, Erekat added, explaining that the Arab Summit will entirely adopt Palestinian President Mahmoud Abbas's vision for peace, that he announced before the Security Council.

Erekat said the American threats to strike Syria is extremely dangerous, adding that "the region doesn't need more wars, but needs peace."
