Ammon News - AMMONNEWS - His Majesty King Abdullah II on Monday received Arab League Secretary-General Ahmed Aboul Gheit, who handed the King a report of joint Arab action assessment during Jordan's presidency to the Arab summit.
Aboul Gheit praised Jordan's presidency of the Arab Summit, noting the summit's resolutions which emphasized the need to solve the Palestinian-Israeli conflict on the basis of the two-state solution, which guarantees the establishment of an independent Palestinian state with East Jerusalem as its capital.
During the meeting, which was held on the sidelines of the second Laureates and Leaders for Children Summit 2018 at the Dead Sea, His Majesty and Aboul Gheit outlined regional developments and efforts to realize political solutions and achieve security and stability.
King Abdullah stressed Jordan's keenness to support efforts of the joint Arab action, especially in light of the current critical conditions, which require working together to safeguard the interests of the nation and serve its just causes.
His Majesty stressed the key role of the Arab League in coordinating and unifying Arab positions, highlighting the need to intensify efforts to support the legitimate rights of Palestinians to establish their independent Palestinian state with East Jerusalem as its capital.
King Abdullah praised the level of coordination between Jordan and the Arab League, noting efforts exerted by the Secretary-General of the Arab League during Jordan's presidency of the 28th Arab Summit.
Aboul Gheit commended the role of His Majesty to activate the joint Arab cooperation to serve Arab issues.
The meeting was attended by the Royal Court Chief, the Minister of Foreign and Expatriate Affairs, the King's Advisor and Director of His Majesty's Office.
