Armed forces command celebrates King's birthday

Ammon News - AMMONNEWS - His Majesty King Abdullah II, the Supreme Commander of the Armed Forces, on Monday attended a ceremony held by the General Command of the Jordan Armed Forces- Arab Army, at the Princess Basma Mechanized Battalion/3 (Umm Al Nashama) to mark his 56th birthday anniversary.

Arriving for the ceremony, the King was welcomed by Chairman of the Joint Chiefs of Staff, Maj. Gen. Mahmoud Freihat and the commanders of the battalion and the Eastern Military Zone.

The Supreme Commander toured an exhibition of weapons and equipment used by the battalion, which was chosen in 2010 to take part in a NATO program on operational concepts and upgrading the training and qualification level to ensure the weapons meet NATO and international operational efficiency standards.

The exhibition included a wide range of weaponry, including launchers, rockets, snipers, night vision and navigation equipment, laser marking equipment, a radio station and a chemical weapons protection station. Some of the weapons and equipment were manufactured at the King Abdullah II Design and Development Bureau.

A number of officers gave briefings about the equipment used in the battalion and a number of military units.

The Supreme Commander also inspected the tactical operations centre, which is equipped with various communications and tactical devices and equipment, and made a visual communication with the units open to the eastern military region.

His Majesty was assured on the conditions and needs of the border guard, who wished him a happy birthday, and then watched a tactical loading and rapid response exercise during the ceremony, which was attended by a number of princes, directors of security services and senior General Command officers.
