Ammon News - AMMONNEWS - Minister of Foreign and Expatriates Affairs Ayman al-Safadi on Sunday met with a delegation from the board of trustees of the Nizami Ganjavi International Centre for a discussion on a number of Middle East issues.
Al-Safadi updated the delegation, which comprises former heads of states and prime ministers, on efforts Jordan continues to exert to bring about peace and stability in the Middle East and resolving the Palestinian-Israeli conflict based on the two-state solution which guarantees the establishment of an independent Palestinian state on pre-1967 lines with East Jerusalem as its capital.
The minister also spoke about a meeting Amman hosted earlier this month to contain the ramifications of the U.S. administration's recognition of Jerusalem as capital of Israel.
On Syria, the minister renewed Jordan's call for finding a political solution through the Geneva process and based on the UN Security Council resolution No. 2254 to find an end to the Syrian crisis.
He also highlighted burdens borne by Jordan as a result of hosting a massive number of Syrian refugees (1.3 million), urging the international community to fulfill its commitments towards Jordan in this regard.
