FM meets India's Minister of Commerce, State Minister for External Affairs

Ammon News - AMMONNEWS - Minister of Foreign and Expatriates Affairs, Ayman Safadi met in New Delhi on Wednesday, India's Minister of Commerce, Suresh Prabhu and State Minister for External Affairs, M.J. Akbar, and discussed with them Jordanian-Indian relations and ways to develop them.
Safadi and Minister Prabhu said Jordan and India are keen to increase trade, economic and investment cooperation. They reviewed steps that can be taken and agreements that both countries are working to sign in order to push forward economic relations and increase cooperation.
They also underlined the two countries' commitment to implement the outcome of the Joint Economic and Trade Committee's meetings, held in July, and the meetings hosted by the Investment Authority in New Delhi in May with the aim of increasing cooperation.
During his meeting with India State Minister for External Affairs, they discussed regional developments and efforts to solve the Middle East's crises, especially the Israeli-Palestinian conflict, which Safadi said is the main cause of tension in the region and that settling it on the basis of the two-state solution and the international legitimacy and the Arab Peace Initiative would bring stability and peace to the region.
Safadi lauded India's vote in favor of a UN General Assembly resolution invalidating the US decision to recognize Jerusalem as the capital of Israel.
The foreign minister will hold talks on regional developments and bilateral relations with India's Minister of External Affairs, Sushma Swaraj, and will deliver a speech on the Middle East at the Indian Council of World Affairs (ICWA).
