Cold air mass forecast to bring snow showers at night

Ammon News - AMMONNEWS - A cold wet air mass and a depression centered over north Syria are forecast to start affecting the country on Wednesday, bringing tangible in temperatures and creating cold and cloudy conditions with rain across much parts of the Kingdom.
According to the Jordan Meteorological Department (JMD), heavy rain is forecast during late night hours, and may be accompanied by thunder, lightning and hail. Snow showers are also expected late Wednesday in the hilly areas, the northern and southern regions with northwesterly brisk winds and gusts and speed reaching 50-60 Kph.
Daytime temperatures expected in Amman for today will reach 13 degrees Celsius, in northern cities 12 and 11in southern governorates, dropping down to 6,5 and 2 respectively. Mercury levels in the Gulf of Aqaba will register 19 degrees sliding to 11 at night.
Similar cold conditions with partly cloudy skies and rain will remain early Thursday, the JMD said, adding the depression is forecast to start weaken in the afternoon as conditions will gradually stabilize. Patches of frost and freezing conditions are forecast to prevail Thursday night and early Friday in all parts of the country, with northwesterly moderate winds, the JMD further added.
Relatively cold weather is expected on Friday with clouds at various altitudes and frost formation in the desert regions and hilly areas, the JMD further added.
