Jordan participates in WHO regional meeting

Ammon News - AMMONNEWS - Jordan took part in the 64th Session of the World Health Organization's (WHO) Regional Committee for the Eastern Mediterranean which was recently held in Islamabad, Pakistan.
The session saw the endorsement of a framework for cancer prevention which is the second leading cause of death worldwide.
Secretary-General of the Health Ministry, Leil al-Fayez, said in a statement Sunday that the annual report on the work of the Regional Office in 2016, cancer, climate change, the health of adolescents and antimicrobial resistance were among topics that were discussed.
The statement also added that al-Fayez highlighted Jordan's burdens arising from the waves of refugees, the Syrian refugees in particular, which had put a tremendous strain on the Kingdom, especially in the health sector.
