Ammon News - AMMONNEWS - Minister of Higher Education and Scientific Research, Adel Twaisi, and President of the South Korea Atomic Energy Research Institute (KAERI), Jaejoo Ha, Monday discussed cooperation in the field of researches related to peaceful uses of atomic energy.
During the meeting, attended by Chairman of the Jordan Atomic Energy Agency, Khaled Toukan, both sides discussed the joint Jordanian-Saudi-Korean agreement on developing the SMART reactor.
Twaisi commended the Jordan-Korean nuclear cooperation, especially after establishing the Jordan Research and Training Reactor (JRTR), constructed inside the Jordan University for Science and Technology campus "which will be a research center in this field." He spoke about the importance of cooperation between Korean and Jordanian research institutions, stressing the importance of for boosting cooperation between the ministry and KAERI through funding research and postgraduate students via the Ministry's Scientific Research Fund.
Toukan called for introducing a master's program in nuclear engineering, in which researchers and postgraduate students use the research reactor in the field of reactor applications.
KAERI president praised the Jordanian nuclear program and expressed readiness to cooperate in all fields, especially in the field of human resources development necessary for the program.
