King meets Governor-General of Canada

Ammon News - AMMONNEWS - His Majesty King Abdullah II, on Monday, met with Governor General of Canada, David Johnston, and reviewed with him the strategic relations between Jordan and Canada, as well as the situation in the Middle East.

In a meeting, held in the presence of His Royal Highness Crown Prince Hussein bin Abdullah II at the governor's official residence Rideau Hall in Ottawa, King Abdullah and Governor Johnston emphasized that both countries are keen to advance bilateral ties, especially in economic spheres.

They stressed the need to increase the two-way trade exchange and cooperate in areas of education and vocational and technical training.

The meeting tackled developments in the Middle East, particularly the Palestinian-Israeli peace process, the Syrian crisis and efforts to find political solutions to regional crises. The talks also touched on efforts to combat terrorism within a holistic strategy.

King Abdullah and Governor Johnston discussed the economic and social burdens borne by Jordan as a result of hosting a massive number of Syrian refugees.

The meeting was attended by Chief of the Royal House Court, Minister of Foreign and Expatriate Affairs and Canada's Ambassador to Jordan.

An official ceremony was held to welcome His Majesty and HRH Crown Prince upon arrival in Rideau Hall.
