Police violently disperse protesting APC workers

Ammon News - AMMONNEWS — Security forces dispersed employees of the Aqaba Ports Corporation (APC) taking part in a demonstration near the port's main gate.

Some of the demonstrators were beaten with batons and taken to hospital as the police chased down employees who fled the scene and hid in the main market in Aqaba.

Sources told Ammonnews that the police dispersed the crowds as a European delegation was scheduled to visit the APC. Thus, they did not want the delegation to see the protesting employees.

Over 400 APC employees are currently gathered near Princess Haya Military Hospital to check on the health of their colleagues, who were beaten by police, in particular one employee who suffered a stroke and another who sustained a severe injury to the head.
