Government denounces terror blast in Egypt

Ammon News - AMMONNEWS - The government on Sunday condemned "in the strongest terms" a terrorist bombing which targeted St. George church in Tanta, Egypt and resulted in the death and injury of dozens of victims.

"The hideous attack aims at fomenting sedition and destabilize Egypt", said State Minister for Media Affairs, Mohammad Momani.

He said dark criminal ideologies that plotted and carried out this attack, targeted the unity of the Egyptian brethren who proved social cohesion and rejection of all attempts of sedition.

The minister, who is also the government spokesperson, said the attack also targets civilization of our Arab and Islamic nation and peaceful coexistence.

He also said that Jordan stands shoulder to shoulder with Egypt in its war on terrorism, which threatens its security and the stability of the entire region. The minister also renewed the call to the international community to stand united to combat terrorism which targets humanity everywhere in this world.

Momani expressed the government's condolences to Egypt's leadership, people and the families of the victims and wished the injured a speedy recovery.
