Ammon News - AMMONNEWS - Airport International Group – the Jordanian company responsible for the rehabilitation, expansion and operation of Queen Alia International Airport (QAIA) – has announced its statistics for February 2017, indicating an improvement in year-on-year passenger traffic (PAX), as well as a decline in aircraft movements (ACM) and cargo traffic figures compared to the same period of last year.
In February 2017, it said, QAIA welcomed 524,286 PAX compared with 501,862 PAX in February of last year, resulting in a 4.5% year-on-year increase.
However, the Airport registered a 6.8% year-on-year in ACM figures, amounting to 5,204 in February of this year compared with last February’s 5,584 ACM. Moreover, QAIA handled 7,137 tons of cargo as opposed to 7,979 tons during the same month of last year, effecting a 10.6% fall, it said.
The figures also showed that since the start of the year, QAIA received a total of 1,101,198 passengers, marking a 2.9% year-to-date (YTD) increase against PAX figures recorded during the same period last year.
Additionally, during the first two months of 2017, YTD ACM figures fell by 4.0%, while cargo handled dropped by 8.8% compared to those recorded in January and February 2016.
