Ammon News - AMMONNEWS - The delegation representing the Syrian opposition in Geneva has said that the breach in ceasefire and displacement of Syrians are decisive factors that are influencing negotiations with Russia.
The delegation also said that, at the sidelines of the Geneva talks, it agreed with the Russian deputy foreign minister on the need to strengthen the fragile truce.
However, the ambience of talks led western diplomats to question the negotiations. A western envoy told Reuters that he does not see any real breakthrough taking place if real negotiations do not take place. The envoy pointed out that the current stage is a ploy to keep the talks going.
Russian deputy foreign minister Gennady Gatilov urged that the truce should be maintained one way or the other and called on external parties, that have an effect on the ground in Syria, to cooperate in this regard.
Spokesman for the Syrian opposition Salem al-Muslet confirmed that they have informed Moscow about the lack of practical steps to stop the regime from continue to carry out attacks.
Muslet said that the Syrian opposition delegation took part in the Geneva talks to engage fully and seriously in the negotiations and make the push forward. However, according to him, it hasn’t found a cooperative partner in the Syrian regime.
