Ammon News - AMMONNEWS - Five persons suspected to be behind a 2016 deadly terrorist attack on an army outpost on the northeastern border will be tried before the State Security Court (SSC), the court's prosecutor, Ziad al-Adwan announced.

He added that the five suspects, from an Arab nationality, are believed to have orchestrated the terrorist bombing, which claimed the lives of seven border guards and injured several others near the Syrian refugee camp of al-Rukban on the Jordanian-Syrian borders.

The suspects were arrested by the army's security body on the borders and it was found out they were affiliated with the terrorist Daesh group and they had a hand in the bombing, Al-Adwan said.

He added that investigations revealed that the suspects surveilled the border and chose the path the car bomb took in addition to filming the operation. The SSC prosecutor said the suspects are charged with carrying out terrorist acts using explosives that led to the death of individuals. He indicated that the court will look into the cases within a few days.

In June 2016, seven Jordanian border guards were killed by a suicide bomber, who drove a car at speed across the border from Syria and rammed it into a military post.
