Momani: Jordan supports Arab accord, joint Arab action

Ammon News - AMMONNEWS - State Minister for Media aAffairs, Mohammad Momani, said Jordan has taken the lead in advancing joint Arab cooperation.

Referring to an Arab Summit Jordan will host next month, Momani said it is an opportunity for Arab leaders to discuss the huge challenges threatening pan-arab security.

The minister told a press conference that Jordan has maintained close ties with all Arab countries, and can host such an important event.

He said three panels have been formed and tasked with the preparations, including the higher committee led by the rime minister, which oversees all the summit's files.

On Syria, the minister said Jordan supports political and diplomatic track to stop the bloodshed and reach a solution to restore peace and security to the country.

He added that he had no information about setting up safe zones in southern Syria.

he also said Jordan is in contact with Iraq to reopen the Treibil border crossing.
