Ammon News - AMMONNEWS - HRH Princess Haya Bint Al Hussein, wife of HH Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Vice-President and Prime Minister of the UAE and Ruler of Dubai, and their children, HH Sheikha Al Jalila Bint Mohammed Al Maktoum and HH Sheikh Zayed Bin Mohammed Al Maktoum, on Thursday, donated JD 28 million for Tkiyet UM Ali.

The donation came to enable Tkiyet UM Ali to launch the second phase of food support program implemented by the Kingdom.

The donation also came in memory of His Majesty the Late King Hussein Bin Talal and Her Majesty the late Queen Alia Al Hussein, the ‘mother of the poor’.

"This year marks 18 years since the passing of HM the Late King Hussein Bin Talal and 40 years since the passing of HM the Late Queen Alia Al Hussein who, above all, were people who cared about humanity," stated HRH Princess Haya, the Chairperson of Tikyet Um Ali.

Currently, Tkiyet Um Ali feeds 18,000 households monthly and plans to reach an additional 10,000 households, as it aims to cover 30,000 families across the Kingdom.

A steering committee headed by HRH Prince Ali Bin Al Hussein, Hussein Al Majali and Zaid Al Hamdan as members will oversee the implementation of the second phase and ensure any necessary logistical help required on an official basis. In 2003, HRH Princess Haya established Tkiyet Um Ali, the first non-governmental organization to provide sustainable food support by serving hot meals and distributing food parcels, in addition to providing humanitarian food aid to Jordan’s underprivileged.
