Ammon News - AMMONNEWS - His Majesty King Abdullah II, on Tuesday, was awarded the Abu Bakr Al-Siddique Medal, by the Arab Red Crescent and Red Cross Organization (ARCO), in recognition of His Majesty's humanitarian efforts towards the Syrian refugees as well as his continued support for the Palestinians and their just cause.

The Abu Bakr Al-Siddique Medal is the highest honor granted by the ARCO to kings and heads of states in recognition of their humanitarian efforts in various parts of the world, especially in the Arab world.

King Abdullah received the medal from President of the Jordan Red Crescent and ARCO's Arab Group, Mohammad Al Mutlaq Al Hadid, during a meeting at the Al Husseiniya Palace with a delegation representing red crescent and red cross societies.

His Majesty expressed his appreciation of the humanitarian efforts exerted by red crescent and red cross societies around the world.

He said the medal is an honour for Jordan that has always been a safe haven for refugees as well as for the Jordanian people and the Arab Army and security agencies that work to protect the country and help the refugees.

Jordan, the King said, will not spare an effort to help the refugees, noting that the burden that Jordan has been shouldering over the years didn't prevent it from continuing its humanitarian role.

The delegations are currently in Amman to attend the 9th Middle East and North Africa (MENA) conference for Red Cross and Red Crescent Societies.
