Ammon News - AMMONNEWS - Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Foreign and Expatriates Affairs, Nasser Judeh, on Saturday met with the Foreign Ministers of the Benelux countries and discussed with them bilateral ties, challenges facing the region and efforts to deal with them.

The Foreign Ministers who represent the Benelux countries, which is an economic in Western Europe that includes three neighboring monarchies, Belgium, the Netherlands, and Luxembourg, are: Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Foreign Affairs of Belgium, Didier Reynders, the Netherlands Minister of Foreign Affairs Bert Koenders, and Foreign Minister of Luxembourg Jean Asselborn.

The Benelux foreign ministers said their visit to Jordan at the start of a regional tour, comes to express the Benelux countries' solidarity with Jordan, support to its efforts, its pivotal role in dealing with challenges facing the region and achieving peace, stability and support its humanitarian efforts in receiving and sheltering Syrian refugees.

The Benelux countries' ministers commended Jordan's reforms in various fields, including holding the parliamentary elections, while Judeh expressed his appreciation for the Benelux countries' support to the Kingdom in various fields.

The meeting stressed relations between Jordan and the Benelux countries both at the bilateral level or through the European Union (EU) as well as the common concern for continued coordination and consultation.

Judeh and his counterparts discussed international efforts to combat terrorism, emphasizing the importance of the Benelux countries' role in countering terrorism and terrorist organizations.

The meeting tackled the Syrian crisis and its repercussions on Jordan's limited resources as well as the importance of reaching a comprehensive political solution to the crisis.

The ministers also discussed the crises in Aleppo, Iraq, Palestine as the Benelux countries' ministers said they appreciated Jordan's role, under the leadership of His Majesty King Abdullah, in dealing with theses crises and its efforts to achieve peace and stability in the region.
