Ammon News - AMMONNEWS - The Ministry of Planning and International Development announced Saturday that the United States had transferred $470 million in director aid to the treasury as part of $812 million agreements signed by Jordan and the US.
The ministry and the US embassy said in a joint statement that the US grants will be allocated to support the Jordanian government's priority projects in the fields of economic growth, education, health, water, democracy and governance.
The statement said the grant was within the framework of four $786.8 million agreements signed in November in the presence of Prime Minister Hani Mulki and US ambassador Alice Wells.
The US government had allotted $25 million to Jordan as part of the Global Concessional Financing Facility launched in April by the United Nations, the World Bank and the Islamic development Bank to reduce the cost of borrowing for middle-income countries like Jordan.
