Ammon News - AMMONNEWS - Amman Municipality is seeking to elevate the efficiency of the capital's rain water drainage system and has allocated JD10 million in next year's budget for projects to upgrade the drain nets, according to a senior official.
Director of Amman City Omar Lozi told a meeting of municipal executives that the municipality will carry out projects to improve the infrastructure's capacity to drain rain water according to priority and pending available resources.
He said contingency plans for the winter, when heavy rain and snowfall in previous years had caused major hazards, should ensure that sewers and the drainage system in the capital are working efficiently to treat the water and keep roads open.
The municipality has already carried out maintenance and dredging of tunnels and manholes to ensure the drainage system's capacity to absorb the rain water and that municipal crews are ready to deal with such emergencies.
