Ammon News - AMMONNEWS - Minister of Industry, Trade and Supply Yarub Qudah said the government will unify customs fees and the sales tax on some sectors, but denied it will raise the prices of bread.

He told a meeting with representatives of the trade and service sectors, organised by the Amman Chamber of Commerce, that the finance ministry is seriously mulling unifying fees and taxes to eliminate the variations in some sectors.

The minister said dealing with the economic situation in the Kingdom is not easy due to the turbulence in regional states, which required "an exceptional" stance by the public and private sectors to work in partnership.

He stressed finding solutions to challenges posed to the national economy, mainly a slump in exports, which have dropped 7.5% in the first eight months of the year, rising unemployment and a downtrend in growth rates that went below projections.

Qudah also reiterated that the government would offer financial and technical support to set up a company owned by the private sector to promote Jordanian products in foreign markets.
