Court rejects 12 petitions over election results

Ammon News - AMMONNEWS - The Amman Court of Appeal Tuesday dismissed 12 petitions challenging the results of the September 20 parliamentary polls.

Independent Election Commission adviser and legal department head Mohammad Qatawneh told Petra in an interview that after holding several sessions to examine the petitions, the court had decided to reject the challenges, which were filed by both candidates and voters mainly in Amman and Zarqa constituencies.

One of these also disputed the results in the women's quota, he said, adding that the court will issue its verdict on a petition contesting the results in the Central Badia district.
