Ammon News - AMMONNEWS - His Majesty King Abdullah II, on Monday, held talks with Canada's Governor General, David Johnston, on ways to cement ties between Jordan and Canada and a number of Middle East issues.
The King hailed the relationship between the two countries as historic and deep-rooted, saying Johnston's visit was important to learn firsthand about the challenges facing the region and "help us overcome the difficulties facing us".
His Majesty also said Jordan was grateful for Canadian support, adding that world countries should follow Canada's steps and welcome refugees.
Johnston voiced appreciation of the warm welcome he received in the Kingdom and said his visit should serve as an opportunity to build stronger relations between Jordan and his country. He indicated that his country is keen to boost relations with Jordan in the fields of film-making, vocational training, supporting SMEs and women empowerment.
The talks dealt with prospects for forging closer cooperation in areas of mining, energy, transport and tourism. The two leaders also discussed the Syrian refugee crisis and its impact on host countries.
They also tackled the fight against terrorism which threatens international security and stability.
