Jordan takes over the Board of Governors of the World Bank, IMF Presidency

Ammon News - AMMONNEWS - Jordan was chosen for the first time to head the Board of Governors of the World Bank and the International Monetary Fund (IMF) for the year 2017, Minister of Planning and International Cooperation, Imad Fakhoury, said.

The step came according to a nomination presented by CEOs representing states' members of the Board and IMF in recognition of the pivotal role played by the Kingdom in the international arena, a statement issued by the ministry said.

Choosing Jordan to head two global institutions mirrors the global stature Jordan enjoys, as well as, the leading role its Hashemite leadership plays internationally, the statement added.
