Ammon News - AMMONNEWS - Acting Secretary General of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and Expatriates, Naif Az-Zidan Wednesday discussed with China's special envoy for Syria, Xie Xiaoyan, the latest developments on the ground of the war-torn country and efforts to reach a political solution.
During the meeting, Az-Zidan reaffirmed Jordan’s unaltered stance led by His Majesty King Abdullah II, since the beginning of the Syrian crisis, calling for finding a political solution that guarantees the security and safety of the country, with the participation of all components of the Syrian community.
He reviewed the huge burden borne by the Kingdom as a result of hosting a large number of Syrian refugees, stressing the need for the international community and key players to intensify their support to Jordan.
Az-Zidan expressed appreciation of China's efforts to find a political solution for the Syrian crisis and welcomed the appointment of a special envoy for this purpose.
The envoy called on the Syrian parties to enforce the truce and resume dialogue, urging at the same time the need for increasing humanitarian assistance to countries hosting Syrian refugees.
The Chinese official also stressed the need to unify international efforts to fight terrorism.
