Ammon News - AMMONNEWS - State Minister for Media Affairs and Government Spokesperson Mohammad Momani said Jordan has made major achievements regarding the human rights system that was culminated in launching the Comprehensive National Plan on Human Rights that is considered an executive plan with clear vision.
The minister made the remarks as he opened a special workshop in Amman on Thursday on following up recommendations of the universal periodic review of the Kingdom’s human rights record in Geneva as well as recommendations of the National Center for Human Rights in Jordan.
"This achievement was made through national efforts by national and public figures and other figures from the civil society institutions that enjoy vast experience and comprehensive vision," Momani added.
He said that Jordan's membership in the UN Human Rights Council is an effective one, noting that the Kingdom has signed agreements that enhance freedoms and human rights in Jordan. "Since the ratification of international agreements on human rights, Jordan has amended many legislation to meet requirements of these agreements, and this enabled it to achieve clear progress in this regard," Momani said. General Commissioner for Human Rights in Jordan Musa Breizat spoke about recommendations of the National Center for Human Rights on the human rights situation in Jordan through its annual report.
