Jordanian Minister of Education visited Georgia

Ammon News - AMMONNEWS - In order to get acquainted with the Teacher Professional Development Policy a high-ranking delegation arrived in Georgia from Jordan.

Jordanian delegation is headed by the Deputy Minister of Education - Mohammad Tneibati. The visit is supported by the United Nations Educational Scientific and Cultural Organization (UNESCO). The honorary guests were met by the Deputy Minister of Education of Science of Georgia – Giorgi Sharvashidze, and the director of the Teacher Professional Development Center – Giorgi Machabeli, according to Ministry of Education and Science of Georgia.

Teacher Professional Development Center will host the delegation’s visit for the duration of one week. During the visit, there is a meeting planned with the Minister of Education and Science – Aleksandre Jejelava. Moreover, business meetings will be held at the National Assessment and Examination Center, the Quality of Education and Development Center, and at the Ministry of Education of Adjara. It is known, that Georgia is amongst global leaders for the teachers’ professional development reforms. “In recent years, Georgia has undergone through a dynamic and comprehensive reforms in the fields of Education. The similar process took place in Jordan under similar circumstances, therefore we wish to visit Georgia and get to know the educational reforms that are taking place, which develops ways for our mutual future cooperation between the two countries.” – said in the official letter.

The visit aims to study the educational reforms and its processes in Georgia, as well as its evaluation. In addition, the delegation assess the current reforms in the Teacher Professional Development Center and studies its function: including the career advancement, various components, teacher’s activities and their professional development.
